Black-out

Black-out

We offer a range of blackout and obscuring fabrics that meet M1 non-fire standards (mentioned on each product sheet). To provide more clarity in this range, we have favoured the term occultant with which we have associated a percentage. If it is 100%, the occultant is blackout, i.e. it does not allow light to pass through. All visible light waves are therefore either absorbed or reflected by the tissue.

Blackout occultants are often coated on the back with an acrylic layer that makes them less flexible than obscuring them:

When this percentage is below 100% it means that the fabric is obscuring, it partially blocks the passage of light, the darker the colour the higher the percentage.

It is the weave that incorporates a black thread that gives the fabric this obscuring appearance.

Obscuring fabrics can easily be double-sided depending on the material, they are especially more flexible than occultants, they can be used alone or as a lining of another more decorative fabric.

Blackout fabrics make it possible to ensure darkness in a room, meeting rooms or classrooms.

It is important to choose a good finish for the curtains and a good fastening that is consistent with the use of a blackout (for example, we can prefer a ruffled head on a rail rather than eyelets on a rod)
